I became a single mom quite literally overnight when my son was 4 months old.

Suddenly, instead of the comfortable, predictable life I'd planned for myself of staying at home and raising a family, I was signing my first lease with just $500 in income per month, applying for food stamps, and fighting for my life in court against people who once claimed to love me.

Through all of this, building my business became both my lifeline and my path forward. What I realized, though, was that as devastating and brutal as my circumstances were, I had more resources and privilege than many women in my situation do. I decided then and there that I would dedicate my business to making the resources that made all the difference for me available to as many women as possible.

This is me and my little guy, sonny, less than a month after our lives imploded.

As I rebuilt my life through entrepreneurship, I learned firsthand that owning a business can be both life-givingly transformative and ridiculously challenging. Especially the marketing part (nobody talks about the fact that starting a business actually means spending about 96.8% of your time marketing). And the issue isn't a lack of information - the internet is full of wild claims, contradicting advice, money-hungry "gurus," and strategies that will get you nowhere and burned out fast. The issue is finding real, actionable, tailored-to-you information you can trust ... without going over budget or losing your mind in the process.

I built True Grit Marketing differently than traditional agencies - I've deliberately moved away from the standard monthly retainer model. Retainers tend to be too expensive and way too rigid for many entrepreneurs since your business and your circumstances can change in an instant. How I found the perfect framework

I started True Grit Marketing after unexpectedly

becoming a single mom quite literally overnight.

Fun fact: building a business while learning how to be a mom for the first time, living alone for the first time, and going through a brutal divorce? Yeah. There wasn't much time to build a business. So, how do you do it all?
